Welcome Petra, We’ve Been Waiting for You
An exclusive interview with Petra Santa for underlit.
Here is where hypocrisy halts. Shame is intentionally and completely left behind. Nothing is left hiding. Reputation is lost, and freedom is found.
In a glorious moment I had the courage. I gave myself permission to express what had been always lying dormant inside of me. Permission to feel totally masculine, totally feminine and everything in between, allowing myself to slide back and forth on the spectrum. Permission and space to hold together parts of myself whose coexistence seemed impossible. Permission to break gender norms and let go of all effort to fit into the role of the male, which too often had been limiting my creativity, my imagination and my enjoyment. This is how Petra was born. She had been knocking at my door for a long time, patiently waiting for my permission to come in.
She knew that if I was to be less than ready, I couldn’t have held her.
Setting these parts free taught me how they actually needed each other, balanced each other, and finally rejoiced each other’s presence.
Petra comes from a blue planet where fluidity is literal and structural, because that planet is only made of liquid matter and gas. The main purpose of life over there is that of experimenting, knowing and exploring all the possibilities of their physical and mental dimensions. That’s what Petra tries to do on this planet too, using her terrestrial, solid body to experience different identities and so discovering the vastness of the spectrum of human experience.
Our only possibility, our only tool to evolve is experimentation, and the field needs to have no boundaries. It is necessary to get rid of the limiting conditioning we have absorbed, because its unspoken norms don’t allow us to explore and express the full range of our being. A being which is limitless, constantly evolving and always mutating into new shapes and forms.
